What developers, designers and teams say about Tower. Unedited.
I can't even tell you how much I love Tower. It's easily my favorite development tool, and I depend on it every single day.

I've unapologetically been using @gittower for years. Actually bought my first Mac because it was only available there at the time.
@gittower just allowed me to undo a merge by pressing command-z. Literally just prevented a heart attack. Probably the most useful development tool out of anything I use.

@gittower is incredible. It lets me do things that I didn't even know you could do with Git. 100% worth it. I've had a license for more than 5 years now, and I'll continue paying annually as long as I work in software.
@gittower is the only yearly subscription that never makes me mad when I see it in my inbox. ♥️
It’s one of very few software licenses that I don’t even have to question when I’m going over expenses.
It's my favorite app to visualize and manage my many repos. I used it a lot at Apple when I worked on many projects with complex Git repos.
As a designer, contributing to code is fundamental to building beautiful products. Tower takes the pain of working with Git out of the equation.

This is basically the first software I get every time I join a new company. I've been using it for ~10 years and it's been amazing to see how the product consistently evolved over time.
Some of my peers spend an hour cleaning up a rebase whereas with Git Tower, I can stream through 40 commits and 100s of conflicts in 30 minutes.
We're so glad that Tower has brought their awesome Git client from Mac to Windows. It's for any serious developer using Windows or Mac.

@gittower user for life ❤️
While purists might suggest diving into the 'reflog', a practical programmer appreciates the simplicity of 'cmd+z' in Tower.
Of course, I could use the command line to manage my git status. But I looked at the calendar: It's fine to do it the convenient way!
@gittower is the reason I have a better understanding of Git. I'm not against the command line, but there's something about visualizing abstract concepts with a great UI that helps my brain connect the dots.
Git Tower is a beautiful user experience on top of the notorious git. It means I can focus on doing my job, and not have to memorise many commands, trip over syntax errors, or feel like I’m living in the 1980s.
Since I use Tower, git has become a true friend.
I remember being laughed at by “the real devs” back in the day for using Tower, but not many things make me feel better than resolving merge conflicts in seconds instead of hours thanks to a well designed Git GUI.
It prevents me from shooting myself in the foot trying to use git via the terminal.
Tower makes me feel like a Git power user.
I have been using Git Tower for more than a decade because it has helped me use version control and ship products.
It's nice being able to drag and drop branch merges and squash commits if desired; it makes things really easy.
What took me minutes in the command line now takes seconds with Tower and that's why I'm never looking back.
Frances Coronel
Software Engineering Mentor at Thinkful
It’s a huge productivity boost, especially for managing multiple projects efficiently.
IntelliJ IDEA's Git integration acts strangely when there are a lot of modules in a project. So I started using @gittower and it's really the best (for Macs) that I've used.
The simplicity with which it works with Git is sublime.
I utilize Git in both design and development environments - and Tower is the only tool that empowers me in both.
Jesse Bilsten
Principal Designer at GoDaddy
Best Git client hands down. The hotkeys and buttons make it 100x more intuitive and faster. See stashes, local changes and branches in a UI!!
Worry free work in a big team of people with lots of branches and commits.
It's been many years since I've had to do anything of note from the command line, and I've never really missed it.
I'd love to know how you've built such good native app UIs for both Windows and macOS.
If you're on Mac, use @gittower. You won't regret it.
It's nice on the eye, REALLY quick, and super stable.
One of my dark secrets is that I love Tower.
Makes clean code commits easy without getting in the way.
The best thing is I can onboard new trainees with little to no experience to use Git Tower with a small learning curve.
I highly recommend Git Tower for any programmer, especially Junior programmers like myself.
I genuinely love @gittower — by far my favorite Git client.
I've been able to quickly spot merge conflicts, find what branch I'm on, switch to a new branch, etc., and using Tower has even improved my knowledge in Git.
The downsides of using Tower are limited, in my opinion. The one that stands out most to me is that I have become so accustomed to using Git Tower's GUI over the years that I find it difficult to remember the proper Git commands needed on the command line.
A great looking UI to manage Git repositories that takes the complexity out of using the Git CLI which can be daunting for many.
As Tower saves me countless hours a week, it’s a no-brainer to pay $69 per year for not only the tool, but a steady stream of updates and great support.
Tower's focus is to make working with git as frictionless as possible.
I am faster and more confident with Git. Prior to using Tower, I felt like I was always fumbling around with Git especially if I needed to do connections to cloud Git Hosts or anything that wasn't basic.
Even though I'm a confident CLI user, I still find myself using Tower for even the simplest of tasks.
This looks amazing! I ❤️ @gittower.
Undo support in @gittower is no joke. I can really see this one feature changing how often I use git from the command line.

Tower has been a great tool for me. I don't have any real problems, and haven't encountered an easier source management tool yet.
+1 to GUIs. I really like @gittower.
My favorite Git client. All the features you'll want in an easy-to-use package.
I really LOVE the undo feature of @gittower. Deleted something by mistake? Merged something into the wrong branch? Just hit ⌘Z to travel back in time. Saved my day at least a gazillion times 🤪
The new Tower is great! Github pull requests have never been easier 🚀

I would never want to spend a day without @kaleidoscopeapp and @gittower again.
Tower is awesome. I use it for 100% of my Git work now (I used to do a mix of CLI/GUI). But since they introduced interactive rebasing, I cut the cord. So even though SourceTree is free, I found its workflow to be a bit confusing, so you owe it to yourself to try Tower.

For some reason, my brain refuses to learn command line usage of git, so Git Tower helps me with that.
Git Tower was a game changer for me.
The visual git history is extremely helpful for complex branching, and the "undo anything" feature is simply indispensable in my personal workflow.
Makes maintenance of multiple repos a breeze.
I am a big fan of @gittower. I *love* how it allows you to use drag and drop to merge branches - so intuitive!

Basically, only because of Git Tower I have discovered how truly awesome stashing is.
No more slowness, no random errors, it just works! Loving it.
It makes the process of having new team members use Git for the first time more accessible.
I use it as my main Git client and I'm very happy with it. Very efficient for merging branches and resolving conflicts.
I usually am not a fan of pay subscriptions for software but Tower is my exception.
We dealt with our sourcetree issues by switching the entire team to Tower. Pretty great so far.
@mcarriere

Git Tower also offers a free license to students, from which offer I got to know the software in the first place.
Managing projects with a fully remote team is a breeze and something that was important for us to get right.
@gittower allows you to undo with cmd z. Which has saved me the headache more than once

It's amazing. One of the best Git clients I've ever used!
My secret is that I use a GUI: @gittower is my favorite.
I'm quite familiar with the git CLI, however after years of using that, it's often refreshing to have a UI that more closely matches things I would do in the CLI.
There are many git apps out there - some trying to be smart and helpful on your behalf. Tower is rather a toolbox allowing you to choose your approach. It doesn't prescribe, it only enables.
@gittower is the best.
All in all, an amazing application, and a must have for me, to the point that I pay for it from my own pocket.
Using the product is extremely easy once you get the flow down.
Found nothing to dislike in 5 years... :)
ooh i just used @gittower beta to drag-drop squash commits! so nice!

@gittower is awesome when I'm squashing commits on my PRs for PCSX2. It's intuitive to use (thank god I have a student subscription lol)
Tower is the best graphical user interface for Git. But wait, I am a geek, and the command line is my best tool... well, yes, but not when I need to look at Git logs, Git diffs, Git blame, or when I need to stage partial changes.
My favorite feature is rebase via drag and drop. #gittower

We, the developers, get frustrated while finding the issues and maintaining the files in Git. This app saved me from that headache.
It has helped the team onboard junior developers very easily without burdening them with the requirement to learn a lot about Git.
I am an experienced Git CLI user with many aliases. I didn't think an app would make me faster. Since I started using Git Tower, my workflow has improved and I get work done significantly faster.
This tool is great! We use it on all of our projects and across multiple teams. I highly recommend it.
The best and most feature-rich GUI Git client for macOS.
I use @gittower and I love it.

I will die on the hill that Git Tower is the best Git client for daily use.
I use @gittower for years. Best Git-App on the planet. PERIOD! 👊

I've been all-in on @gittower for over a decade, and they're still regularly shipping some of the most thoughtful features I've seen yet. Excellent UI and an absolute workhorse.
Some things are meant to have a UI, and Git is one of them if you ask me. Tower is the perfect level of abstraction away from command-line Git usage.
Chris Coyier
Co-Founder at CodePen
Tower is a solid Git client, a beautiful, native app that does exactly what it should.
Felix Krause
Founder at fastlane
Tower has been my goto UI for git, and there's nothing else even close to it.
I'm a Git CLI evangelist but @gittower is amazing, I've gotta say.
I really love it, worth every penny.
I really don't have a downside. I have enjoyed everything about Tower and will use it forever.
I've been using it for more than five years now, and there is no other git tool that better fits my mental model of git.
The problem Tower solves is that the authors of the git command line hate their users as much as their users hate the git command line. With Tower, I don't have to deal with any of that noise.
It's so efficient that I've completely forgotten what the web interfaces for pull requests look like.
I hate the Terminal. I didn't buy a Mac so I can look at white text on a black background. I want a GUI that lets me visually handle all my interactions with Git. Tower has ALWAYS had a beautiful User Interface.
I have tried many alternatives, I keep trying others regularly, and I always come back. At this point, it's pretty much what keeps me on Mac.
Tower is and remains my favorite Git client.
It demystifies git, particularly for those of us who do not use git all-day every-day. We use it for Python projects, but primarily for synchronizing LaTeX, for which Tower is fabulous.
I have even converted some of the ardent cli users to Tower and they will never go back.
Dear @gittower, your undo feature just saved me two days of work on two accidentally deleted branches. I love you dearly.
Michael Trojanek

I'd been using several free git clients for a while and they did work fine, but after trying a demo of Git Tower, things just clicked.
Am I the only engineer who uses @gittower to simplify my daily Git commands? I love to visually see everything in front of me, and this app totally helps with this.
A visual Git client like @gittower is the easiest to learn in my opinion. I've never needed anything that my Git client couldn't do.
Frankly, I am a user bound to git, and everyone knows git has thousands of git command options to get things done, and it is tiresome to remember them and recall them when typing in the console. So here we have Git Tower, I do not need to remember them anymore, I can focus on my routine daily job, and leave the git task to Git Tower.
Being able to drag and drop commits in @gittower and that it does an interactive rebase in the background is absolutely FABULOUS! Not sure why people like to type weird commands in a terminal.

It's now really easy to use source control with apps like @gittower that make mastering Git a breeze.
These capabilities, combined with the clean and intuitive UI, make my daily work as a software developer incredibly productive and enjoyable.
There is no other program where I can resolve large merge conflicts.
The UI is amazing, diffs are super good. Been using it for years, you will love it. It's not free but worth it.
Tower provides an intuitive interface for git that makes it easy to see what you're working on, inspect your commit history in a graph, and do a lot of general git things that make it a pleasure to use.
Really hard to come up with something negative about Git Tower. I would say that I am a fanboy :)
Git Tower just works. Adding my YubiKey to sign my commits: done. Rebasing complex branches: a breeze. Checking out a remote branch: one double-click away. I've been using Git Tower for years and convinced many team members to use it too.
You should use Tower. It changed the game for me and made Git much more visual for me to understand.

Ever since we started using Git Tower everyone knows how to use Git efficiently and securely. It dramatically reduced frustration in our team trying to solve merge conflicts in the command line.
It’s been simplifying the task of keeping track of content changes on customer websites. I no longer have to spend time documenting every change; Tower takes care of that.
The new Tower stays responsive even when I have thousands of files changed like a crazy person would have.
Cansin Yildiz

I've been using @gittower — a Git client with superpowers. It has made me a more confident and productive developer and I think you should try it!
It doesn't try to oversimplify Git, but it also doesn't try to overcomplicate it either.
Even though this is a paid tool, I choose to use it because it just works so much better than the other options and I'm happy to support the team.
@gittower has been my main Git app for years now. The core is great, and happy to see these improvements.
@gittower is just amazing. Love every bit of this software!
So many fantastic new features in my favorite Git GUI 🤩
I used other software like Fork or GitHub Desktop, they're overly simplified and do not offer some crucial features. Tower is both easy to use yet full of features.
Stacking PRs on GitHub is very easy with the "rebase onto" functionality that they have implemented.
The friction that the git CLI interface adds is completely gone and I can see all the changes visually.
I like the simplified git reflog mapped to undo/redo keyboard shortcuts. It intuitively groups multiple git commands into a single undo/redo action. A great escape hatch when you make a mistake.
Git Tower is a native "Mac-assed" Mac app, a rare find these days with so many terrible Electron-based apps out there.
Confession: I exclusively use a Git GUI. I don’t like command line, I don’t need to feel like more of a developer by using terminal so I don’t. @gittower is my GUI of choice 👌🏻
@nickjfarrant
X
Just use it; you won't be willing to come back to the old command-line interface of git.
Git Tower makes everything involved with managing Git repositories seamless and easy to use. The UI is easy to navigate and complex actions are presented in a simplified manner without obscuring options.
We can do the same work using the command line, but why waste time?
Just got the update and it's everything I've ever needed. 👏🏼
So glad @gittower has extensive undo support! I hit “Discard Chunk” by accident and was able to restore my work.
Joachim Fornallaz
X
I learned Git through Tower. Using this product you can start using Git with basically zero knowledge of the Git system. You learn every Git feature by using Tower.
Been using @gittower for over 10 years.
It did take a while to go from using the terminal to using a visual Git tool, but I love being able to see all of my repos in one place and handling merge conflicts like a champ.
Coupled with a good diff tool (I use Kaleidoscope) merge conflicts are a thing of the past.
So far Tower is nice, but most importantly: so so so much faster on the big necro repo 😵 In particular we’ve had problems with LFS in sourcetree that so far haven’t been an issue as well☺️
@VioletMayMay
X
My every day Git usage is so much easier since I use Tower.
I don't know why so many devs avoid a GUI for Git. It helps me so much to make conscious commits, keep the history clean, look through changes … and so much more.
Cmd + Z combination is also a lifesaver in Tower.
I've been using Git Tower for over two years now, and I cannot think of changing the Git client.
I've been using Tower since 2015 and it's a key part of my daily workflow for rebasing and formulating pull requests. I can do the same thing in the terminal, but I appreciate a well put together Mac GUI.
The CMD+Z feature is the most perfect usage of the reflog you can imagine without having to know about the reflog! It has saved my life more than once!
Git Tower is the most intuitive git client that I have ever used. It takes the pain out of complex operations like interactive rebasing and simplifies branch and pull request management for our team.
Tower is an easy switch if you're used to sourcetree. Faster, better.
@Redth
X
Look no further. I used all the GUI clients (Sourcetree, GitKraken, Fork, etc.), and this is the only one that just works without me learning anything.
@gittower is the champion of Git GUIs, you can drag and drop anything (rebase, cherry-pick, merge, rearrange history) and if you do anything wrong you can just CMD-Z to undo it.
I decided to give Git Tower a shot, and so far, so good - the UI hangs that plagued my latter-day SourceTree experience haven’t shown up.
@Gidgerby
X
To be honest... there's not a single thing that comes to mind that I genuinely don't like. I guess that's proof of how much I actually like it.
It's also the first Git client that made Git click for me. I now merge, rebase, reset and cherry-pick with no fear: I now understand what I'm doing.
Some complex Git operations, such as picking specific lines or chunks to stage, are significantly easier in Tower than in the Git command line tool.
Tower is very easy to use and has always been my favourite Git GUI client. I found many others to have weird UX concepts, Tower on the other hand, is very straightforward and in my view, built up logically.
I am a graphic designer and a visual person, so while I can use the terminal it gets in the way of my creative process and kind of stresses me out. Using git is essential to my work so finding a good git client was vital. However, Tower is more than good, it is excellent!
I almost never have to go to the command line for Git now, and I can visually see everything that is happening in my repositories.
I’m a big fan of @gittower . Highly recommend.
@fabianfett
X
I like the ability to very specifically stage files or parts of files and make very detailed commits.
I haven't seen any git client that manages to be a powerhouse and yet be 100% native to the system.
I'm a big fan of Tower.
When compared to Sourcetree, Git Tower is more powerful.
I've been using Tower for the last ten years! Nothing beats it for ease of use for anything Git-related.
Tower is the best Git client bar none - the speed, the reliability and the exceptionally great functionality (both in the features and their UX) just makes it a no-brainer purchase and use.
Tower is one of those phenomenally useful tools that is done with great taste, simply works, and gets out of your way when you are heads down into your work.
I've been using Tower for years, it's one of the first things I install on any new laptop. Even though I often work in the terminal I need a GUI for proper overview, and so far I've not found one that comes close.
Tower is a pleasure to use while it retains the full power of Git. I enjoy using it every day for both design and code work.
Koen Bok
CEO at Framer
Nothing more to add—it's the best Git GUI out there.
Let me tell you: if you want to know which is the best Git client, it's this one. Do not look for something else.
We use it on our development team and it is worth WAY more than we pay for it.
Before being introduced to Tower by a coworker, I was a strictly command-line Git user. It has changed my working life, and given me far more confidence in using Git.
Tower is a vital tool in my workflow. It makes the more advanced things in Git intuitive and completely effortless.
Hector Simpson
UI/UX Designer at Heroku
It's so good that it's the only software product I can think of where I'm glad when I see the recurring payment notice. I just get that much value out of it every day.
I have not found a different git client which is nearly as usable as Tower (and I really looked at a lot).
Tower is one of my favourite tools - it does what all great software does; it takes a specific problem and fixes it.
I've tried other Git clients, but always come back to Tower. It's not one headline feature. It's the accumulation of small, thoughtful details that make my work less error-prone.
When using Git on the command-line, you get power – but not ease-of-use. When using any UI, you typically get ease-of-use, but not power. So the magic is the combination of both, and this is where Tower excels.
Don't be a command line hero, help yourself get hours of your time back and just install Tower!
My co-workers who still insist on a terminal or other apps tend to complain about switching branches or having to do various git commands. For me, it's no problem to jump around all the time because Tower does all the heavy lifting. I hope some day they come to their senses...
We have used the Tower GitHub client in a Neuroscience research group setting for the last 4 years. Our users have differing levels of programming familiarity. The graphical user interface of Tower is perfect for this type of mixed skill environment.
Changing from @sourcetree to @gittower was something I was really hesitant about. But after using Tower for a while, it’s now obvious how far behind Sourcetree is. Sourcetree doesn’t feel like a polished, well designed app at all. SOOO glad I switched to Tower.

Git rhymes with grit. Too many moving pieces in something that could be automated, or at the very least made easy. This software does just that.
Tower’s interactive rebase UI hides a ton of power in literal plain sight. Now, anybody can be a high-level imperative Git wizard without breaking a sweat.
Jeremy Petter
iOS Engineer at MetaLab
Git Tower makes complex Git workflows much easier for me to understand and manage.
I like Git Tower because it makes using Git so much easier. The interface is clean and user-friendly, so I can manage branches, commits, and merges without needing to remember complex commands.
I like the clean, intuitive UI, great UX and ease of cherry-picking and doing interactive rebases. All of that makes it a pretty powerful tool in a sleek package.
The support team is always very quick to respond to any queries and a pleasure to work with.
The true secret of Git Tower is that it is a loyal companion even for experienced Git users. In fact it helped me to understand Git better and to become a better Git user – also when using Git on the console.
@gittower ’s COMMAND-Z Undo has literally just saved my whole weekend at 4:30pm on Friday afternoon after a stupid mistake by me.

Git can be super complicated. You can read dozens of books on it in order to master it. Or, you can use an easy-to-use GUI client like Git Tower.
So even for people who are not proficient with git commands the app makes using versioning a breeze.
At the start of my career, Git was just something that did NOT come to me naturally. Tower enabled me to learn while tackling complex rebase/merge issues while also just being nicer to look at.
It doesn’t damage my ego at all to admit that I use a UI for git instead of filling my limited memory buffer with arcane knowledge. I love what @gittower are doing here with Cmd-z to undo git actions
Jamie Lawrence

Although I can work with Git in the terminal, this is by far my favorite way to interact with it.
Dedicated Git client: Tower. It's too easy to screw up at the command line or in your IDE.
I use @gittower and it’s so nice - I think my 2 faves are: drag and drop commits to cherry pick between branches, and rapidly selecting lines within files to commit so I can break a single pile of changes into several well described commits fast!
Ben Gotow

Its GUI is awesome and makes my life easier in managing the work.
The UI is very user-friendly and beginner-friendly, yet you can still do much more than GitHub Desktop or any other Git GUI I've tried.
I’ve used @gittower for many many years, and continue to feel it’s the best GUI for Git. Multiple windows or tabs, lots of other good stuff.

I love Tower! That's what I use. Even my tech lead turned manager shamelessly says that he uses a GUI when I ask him what commands to type into the terminal.

For Mac and Windows, it works like magic because of the interface it offers.
The Tower UI greatly simplifies Git usage, reducing errors and increasing productivity.
The opaqueness of the Git command line is not a problem anymore.

Tower makes it easy to check in the code you work on daily while enabling you to focus less on how git works and more on doing things.
I like how Git Tower is always adding valuable improvements to the software.
It simplifies the process of managing several different repos as well, which is a big feature for freelancers who are working on more than one project at a time.
It’s one of the few software tools that I use every single day. With its minimalistic UI Tower simply gets out of my way and lets me focus on getting things done quickly.
I'm an @gittower man myself (and sometimes a bit of a CLI man).
I use Tower for like 95% of my Git stuff these days. It's so good.
The power of Tower can be summarized in one word: "visualization".
Just used @gittower's new Reflog feature to restore a commit I accidentally deleted. Having done this before using command line, using Tower has simplified the process ten fold - just drag and drop.

I use Tower 30-40% of the time and Warp terminal the rest. It's the most productive flow for me. Sometimes you just want ease and less cognitive overhead.
Tower demystifies git. It allows me to visualize my changes and manage branches with ease.
To me having a GUI is much quicker, in @gittower you can use a 3 key shortcut instead of typing a full sentence or even drag and drop if you don’t know the command yet 🙂, the diff is perfect and the image diff is 💖. You should give it a try! And the undo option is also 😍

Git is a powerful tool, and Tower exposes a lot - if not all - of that power with a clean and intuitive user interface. There's no risk of mistyping a git command and losing your work.
