Customizing the diff view with themes
Tower lets you customize how code looks in the diff view, the Raw view, and the Blame view — from syntax coloring to the font and the colors used for added and deleted lines.
Enabling Syntax Coloring
Go to and check . Use the option to control whether your diffs are colored as well.
This dialog also lets you show invisible characters and set the tab width.
Choosing a Theme
Go to and select one of the built-in themes (such as Default, Monokai, Solarized, or Twilight).
Tower remembers a separate theme for light and dark mode. To set the theme for the other appearance, switch Tower's appearance and select a theme again.
Creating Your Own Theme
Click the button below the list of themes to create a new one. You can then customize:
- the font and font size
- the color of each syntax element (keywords, strings, comments, numbers, and more)
- the font, background, and selection colors
- the colors for highlighting added and deleted lines
The preview at the bottom of the dialog shows your changes right away.
Sharing Themes
Themes are stored as .towertheme files. To export a theme, drag it from the list of themes and drop it in Finder. Then, share the file with your teammates or take it to a new machine.
To install a theme file you received, double-click it, or drag and drop it onto the Tower icon in the Dock.
